Friday at Barrett-Jackson! Some of the nicest rides in the country will be crossing the block today! Check out a few of our favorites!

(All photos credit Barrett-Jackson.com)

Black, low gear, 4-speed, no heater, dog dish hub caps, big engine. Nothing beats a plain Jane car. This 1960 Chevy is a great example of “built to run”. Check it out, Lot 982.

I never understood why more people didn’t do Dodge Viper engine swaps over the years? I remember seeing a Challenger at Carlisle years ago that had one and thought that was just the coolest thing. Apparently the builder of Lot 1016 agree’s with me!

I know what your thinking, Studebaker? But look at Lot 1027, check out the McCulloch supercharger hanging from the top of the engine.

Something about this ‘Cuda just grabs my eye. Its traditional Mopar. Over the top color, billboards, shaker hood, got to love it! Check it out, Lot 1071.

Low miles, four speed, hold on to your hat when this one goes across the block, it’s gonna ring the bell. Lot 1133.

Sadly in the collector car world “Hemi” just doesn’t do what it used to, but when you ad convertible to it, it still rings the bell! The GTX convertible is one of the rarest of them all! Lot L77 is 1 of 11!

Lot 82.1 not only carries three legendary drivers signature, but one of them on the door as well. Signed by Shelby, Unser, and Bondurant. This Bob Bondurant racing Mustang is a cool piece of history for anyone’s collection!

I love a Superbird, but the white on Lot L84 may be the classiest color of them all.

Lot 79.1, better known as King Of The Hill, the ZR1. This low mile example should really ring the bell!

Lot L40 brings us the first Foxbody Mustang of the auction. This is an SSP car, meaning basically it was a cop car. This particular one was a Florida Highway Patrol Car. These cars have been doing really good at auctions as of late, it will be interesting to see what trend this one sets for the year.

.

Lot 905: 1991 GMC Saudi Syclone

What makes this one cool: We mentioned another GMC Syclone earlier in the week, but this one is one of 31 “Saudi” Syclone’s that were built for export. Ultra rare, I can’t remember the last time I saw one up for sale. This one has been modded a little bit so we will see how that effects its final auction price.

Lot 999: 1969 Ford Talladega

What makes this one cool: By this point, you know I have a thing for Talladega’s!

Lot 1004: 1970 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda Convertible

What makes this one cool: HEMI, ‘CUDA, CONVERTIBLE. Need I say more?

Lot 1024: 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra “Recreation”

What makes this one cool: Speaking of the Ford Talladega, this one is its evil big brother. A VERY rare car and personally one of my favorites of all time, this one is actually a clone. But even in clone form, this one has a lot of nice parts on it and as rare as they are, I expect this one to go for somewhere between 100,000 and 200,000 grand.

Lot 1037: 1974 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duty 455

What makes this one cool: These cars were factory beasts, rare, and always bring good money.

Lot 1069: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO

What makes this one cool: A lot of COPO cars you see are restored or kept in their factory condition, but honestly, that’s not what they were meant to do, they were meant to drag race. That is exactly what this one did. With its history, it will be interesting to see if that helps or hurts its value.

Lot 1051: 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A

What makes this one cool: Being that there is one in my garage, I gotta keep my eye on this one!

Mecum Kissimmee 2013: Saturday Cars To Watch

Everyone knows Saturday is the biggest day at any major auction. Mecum Kissimmee is no exception. I mean, I don’t even know where to start. This is such a stacked line up I should probably just post all the cars as ones to watch. But SOMEHOW I’m going to make myself only talk about ten cars. BUT I am going to simply post pictures of some more under “honorable mention”.

TOP-10

Okay, wait a minute, I mean have you looked at the cars at Mecum Kissimmee? Ten? No way. There is more than ten Corvette’s going across the block today that deserve mention. So lets do this, check out my Top Ten Corvettes for Saturday by CLICKING HERE. Even with the Vette’s out of the way it was really hard to pick a top ten. To give you an idea of just how many nice cars are here before I pick the top ten cars to watch for Saturday here is the “honorable mentions”.

69

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Resto-Mod

I have saw and photographed this car in person on several occasions. The attention to detail is out of this world, the flat black paint on top is sinister looking. Tied in with the black vinyl top this is just one good looking Camaro.

hemiracecar

1967 Plymouth Hemi Belvedere Factory Race Car

Hemi, light weight, factory drag car. Need I say more?

bluemule

1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro

The “Blue Mule”.  A very nicely modified, highly optioned, COPO car.

cross ram

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 “Cross Ram”

Cross Ram cars bring a fortune, mix in the big brakes and this one should fetch well into the 100k range.

boss

1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429

I’ve saw this one in person too, very nice low mile car. 8,064 miles to be exact.

68

1968 Ford Mustang Factory Lightweight

Our second lightweight car of the day. This one is of the Ford variety.

cuda

1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda

Low miles, unrestored, excellent condition. This car should fetch a mint.

bird

1970 Plymouth Superbird

One of two Superbirds to cross the block today. Four speed, six pack, national show winner. Very curious to see what this one goes for.

33

1966 Ford Mustang Shelby SCCA Race Car

1 of 16 made. With Carol Shelby’s name on it, this car should bring big money.

pontiac

1963 Pontiac Tempest 421 Super Duty

1 of 6 produced. 421 Super Duty. Known as “World’s Fastest Tempest”.

If you missed that entry CLICK HERE So we will start with ten and go from there but this will defiantly be a two part series if not a three part series!

TOP-10

Gonna keep it simple today, just the link and a picture. Besides I’m sure by now your tired of hearing my babble on about why I’m picking this or that or what is cool about it. Plus these Saturday cars pretty much speak for themselves!!

Friday Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Part Two: The Dirty Dozen

Like I said in my previous post today (click here to view it) there was no way I could pick just ten cars today at Barrett-Jackson. So here is the second round, the dirty dozen.

I told you these resto-mod vette’s were coming out of the wood work this year!

1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda AAR
Lot Number 1038

aar
Awesome example of a very nice AAR ‘Cuda. And all decked out in a nice traditional odd ball Mopar color scheme!

1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda Convertible
Lot Number 1037

71cuda
Very nice ‘Cuda. Old school Hemi with new school fuel injection.

1955 Chevrolet Corvette
Lot Number 1028

55vette
Most 1955 Corvettes featured a V8 for the first time, except for seven. This is one of those seven. Another worthless fact about this car is the last time it won a NCRS Top Flight award was in 1991 at Cypress Gardens which was also my very first NCRS event at the tender age of 5.

1959 Chevrolet Impala
Lot Number 1017

59
Our second 59 Impala Convertible of the day, but unlike the first original example this one is build to drive with a 6-speed and an LS1. It will be interesting to compare prices in the end!

1931 Ford Model A Roadster
Lot Number 1002

31
Its rare to see a nice original roadster, most of them are just fiberglass recreations.

1957 Chevrolet Corvette
Lot Number 991

57
I know, I know, this is like the 8th Corvette Resto-mod I’ve picked but they are just so dang cool!

1958 Chevrolet Corvette
Lot Number 983

58
Fine, I’ll pick a stock Vette. I mean after all 1958 is my favorite year of the straight axles and you’ve got to love a big brake car!

1970 Chevrolet Nova
Lot Number 943

nova
I’m not normally a big Nova fan but I’m diggin’ the factory big block and the black paint.

2000 Chevrolet Custom Corvette
Lot Number 978.1

5300
I’ve always been a huge fan of these cars since they came out a few years ago but they never really seemed to take off. I’m really curious to see what this one brings.
