Picking cars for Saturday is always hard, I usually start with a list of like 20 and then just narrow them down. Too many to choose from!

Be sure and check them all out at the link below!

https://www.mecum.com/auctions/kissimmee-2017/lots/01/14/

Lot S73 features my favorite look of all the C1 Corvette’s, a big brake fuelie! Black is just an added bonus!

Lot S95 features what I have always thought as one of the most collectible Mustang’s of the modern era, the first recreation of the GT350. This is a prototype car owned by the man Mr. Shelby himself!

Lot S121 gives us another Mustang. Although they may not have been the most popular body style in the Boss line up, performance wise, having owned both a 70 and a 71, I think these cars run much better than the 1969 and 1970 302 versions.

If you’ve been following our coverage all week, you are probably wondering by now why I haven’t mentioned any of the dozens of awesome factory race cars going across the blocks this week, well the reason is simple, there are so many they got their own article! If you missed it, click the link below to read it!

http://wp.me/p2eMaj-3bx

With that being said, there was one factory drag car so awesome, it had to be mentioned in here. Lot S126, a factory Hemi Dart. The even cooler thing about this car, as if it could get any cooler, it was bought in the next town over, Sylva, NC from where I live! I’m currently researching to see if anyone remembers the car as it appears to have spent most its life in the area!

Everyone knows I love four doors, Lot S132 is a great example of a rare factory four door! Check it out!

If you’ve looked at anything Mecum Kissimmee, you’ve saw Lot 146.1, this rare black & blue Corvette has to catch your eye! I also imagine it is going to catch a ton of money for the seller!

Lot S151 to me is THE look that defines the C3 Corvette. Bought new at Yenko Chevrolet, Baldwin Motion style hood, big block, etc, etc, it has it all!

Often times when you see a “tanker” Vette, its a Bloomington Gold restored trailer queen, nothing wrong with that at all, but it sure is nice to see one that was used for what it was built for! To race!! Check out Lot S235.

Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2015: Thursday Cars To Watch

For the Barrett-Jackson TV Schedule, CLICK HERE

For all of Thursday’s cars, CLICK HERE

Lot 616: 1996 Ford Mustang Shinoda Boss

What makes this one cool: I’ve always been a big fan of the SN95 Shinoda cars, although they’ve never really brought big money. Curious to see what this one does, it might set an upward trend for the cars.

Lot 626: 1949 Plymouth Suburban

What makes this one cool: I saw one of these a few years ago at a show for sale and fell in love with it. It was still in its original glory, not built like this one. I thought then, what a cool car that would make. I guess someone else had the same idea!

Lot 756: 1972 Chevrolet Corvette LT1

What makes this one cool: This is one of several 1972 LT1’s going across the blocks on Thursday. The LT1 in my opinion may be or is the best performing Corvette ever built pre-modern era. Especially in small block form. What makes this one cool is its a factory air car and a rare color. In fact my dad had an identical car a few years back, same color and all.

Lot 770.2 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

What makes this one cool: These cars are all the fuss in the media and very hard to get right now. I’d imagine someone will pay a premium price to put this one in their garage.

Lot 791: 2007 Shelby GT Coupe

What makes this one cool: Aside from this being an EPA test car, these Shelby GT’s are probably the most well balanced car ever built on the S197 chassis and are actually closer to the Shelby heritage than the more popular GT 500’s.

Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2013 Final Recap

What a week its been! Tons of posts, tons of tweets, tons of awesome cars going across the block at Barrett-Jackson, or #bja2013 as I’ve became used to calling it via Twitter!  First off I have to say thanks to everyone who have taken time to read our blog posts and interact with us on Twitter @jdsmotorsports. I wasn’t one hundred percent sure how the reception would be to it but it has been very well received so look for much more auction coverage to come from Barrett-Jackson, Mecum and others this year!

Top 5 Sellers

There is lots to talk about but I guess the best place to start would be at the top! So lets look at the top sellers for the 2013 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction.

5. 1934 DUESENBERG J MURPHY LWB CUSTOM BEVERLY SEDAN- $1,430,000

Beautiful car. I’m not a big fan of the early luxury cars but if I was going to buy one I’d want one that looked like this. Classic styling.

4. 1968 SHELBY EXP 500 “THE GREEN HORNET”- $1,980,000

I must have missed the update on air Saturday night but I’m assuming this car sold? It was bid to 1,800,000 but according to the top sellers list they have it listed at 1,980,000. So they must have worked out a deal after the auction. If not the most rare Shelby out there, its top three for sure.

3. 1947 TALBOT-LAGO T-26 GRAND SPORT- $2,035,000

I’m not sure I had even heard of a Talbot before this auction but I love it! This isn’t a car, its a work of art!

2. 1955 MERCEDES-BENZ 300SL GULLWING COUPE- $2,035,000

Gullwing, what a car, but not just any Gullwing, Clark Gable’s Gullwing. I knew this one would go for big money and actually at this price I’d consider it a pretty good deal. With the history this one could have easily went for more money.

1. #1 BATMOBILE The Batmobile- $4,620,000

The Batmobile, I gotta be honest, I didn’t see what the buzz was about. I figured two hundred, three hundred thousand at most. But then as the weekend went on I couldn’t help but notice how much hype surrounded the car. It was then that I had a feeling it might get up towards one millions. But when I saw the car coming out to the block I had to take a double take, it looked like Muhammad Ali was walking out for a heavyweight title fight, the crowd was unreal. It was at that moment I knew we were about to watch something special.

Below is the video footage of the car selling. Fast forward about thirty seconds in. If you haven’t saw it, you gotta watch it!

Charity Cars

One of the cool things about Barrett-Jackson is the amount of money that they raise for charity, check out some of the awesome charity rides that went across the block this week.

Lot 3020: 1969 Ford Bronco- Up for auction my NASCAR driver Kurt Busch and his girlfriend. This baby raised $500,000 dollars for the Armed Forces Foundation.

Lot 3030: 2012 Ford Mustang Race Car- Another charity car with NASCAR involved. This is a Rusty Wallace built race car. It sold for $200,000 dollars for the NASCAR Foundation.

Lot 3010: 1958 Chevrolet Corvette- This car was put up for auction by GM chairman and CEO David Akerson. The car brought $270,000 dollars. 100% went to Habitat For Humanity.

Lot 3011: 1953 Ford F-100- This truck was customized by Chip Foose and donated by the WD-40 company. It sold for $170,000 dollars to benefit Childhelp and the Victory Junction Gang.

Lot 3013: 2013 Shebly GT500 Ford Mustang- Really surprised this baby didn’t go for a lot more money. It brought $200,000 dollars for JDRF. I’d have to think being the last body style and year Mustang Carroll Shelby will ever have his hands on, being the fact that this is a one of, that it will be the most collectible of all the 2007 and up GT500’s. Either way it was cool to see Carroll’s grandson and Henry Ford III standing on stage together!

Lot 3014: 2012 Chevrolet COPO Camaro- Any time you here the words COPO you know big money is soon to follow. This 2012 COPO Camaro brought $400,000 dollars to benefit the American Heart Association.

Lot 3017: 2009 Ford F150- This truck belonged to former President George W. Bush. But even Jay Leno couldn’t talk it up to anything higher than $300,ooo for the Fisher House. This one was purchased by NASCAR owner Rick Hendrick with the help of NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon.

Lot 3016: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray- I knew when it was announced that this car would sell across the block at Barrett-Jackson(CLICK HERE for the article) that it would bring big money. And big money it did, $1,100,000 to be exact. It was also purchased by Rick Hendrick.

We’ve had a lot of coverage over the past week and a half, talked about a lot of cars. So rather than beat a dead horse so to speak, I’m just going to share the links to all the previous coverage. You can follow the links in these entries to see more results.

Barrett-Jackson Isn’t The Only Auction In Town

The pick of the auction

While its hard to pick just one, I had a clear favorite of this years auction. Lot 5041, a 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88. This car is just awesome, one of the best looking year Corvette’s ever in nasty race trim. This thing brought $1,100,000 dollars and went to the Rick Hendrick collection.

Here is a video of it going across the block.

That’s it for now, stay tuned, later in the week we will somehow narrow it down and pick our top ten cars of the auction.

Also stay tuned to the site for tons of coverage from the Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Florida. We will also be on hand Thursday and Friday taking tons of pictures.

Sunday Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale: Cars To Watch

The final day at Barrett-Jackson! Millions of dollars of cars have rolled across the block but there is still at least ten more out there worth watching for! Check ’em out!

TOP-10

1964 Chevrolet Corvette
Lot Number 1551

64vette
We’ve saw our share of Corvette’s go across the block this week, from mild to wild to all original NCRS cars. This 64 will be one of the bidders last chances to get a nice original car. I’m curious to watch it because 1964 is usually the year no one wants because its not a “split-window” but it doesn’t have the better features of the 1965. But if someone wants a vette and have been sitting on there money all weekend they might get desperate and pay for this one.

Pointless? Yes, but it would still be cool to have in your garage. “Yeah, that’s my Harley, its still in the box.”

1967 Chevrolet Corvette
Lot Number 1569

67
At first glance this looks just like any other 1967 Vette, but its the transmission that makes this one special. Its a 3-speed instead of a 4-speed or automatic. I’ve saw a few of these cars pop up over the years but they are pretty dang rare.

1931 Ford Model A
Lot Number 1525

This car was built by Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, Texas so it has to be on the watch list!

1961 Chevrolet Corvette
Lot Number 1610

61
This car caught my attention because it is a nice mix of “resto-mod” and original. It’s modded slightly with just a nice mildy built engine, wheels that are nice but not over the top, and just a few other minor mods. Nothing is done too extreme that this car couldn’t be put back to 100% stock which may appeal to some of the purist that want a nice driver, but don’t like the idea of totally reworking a car to the point that nothing on it is stock anymore.

1967 Chevrolet C10
Lot Number 1549.1

Another really nice clean C10 truck. This one has a crate big block in it with a late model transmission, should be a great cruiser!

256 actual miles on this pretty much brand new truck! I could see this one going either way price wise, a steal on a new truck for someone, or an over priced worthless collectable!

I think the picture speaks for itself! This Olds is a work of art!

1958 Pontiac Bonneville

I’ve always loved the unique styling of the 50’s Pontiac’s, Buick’s, and Oldsmobile’s. From the door up you think 58 Chevy, but at second glance you know its something a little more special.

1959 Ford F100 “Shelby Farms” Truck
Lot Number 639

Usually when you here the word Shelby at Barrett-Jackson dollar signs quickly follow. But this might be a rare chance to buy a Shelby at Barrett-Jackson without getting into the 50k plus range. Very interested to see where this truck goes money wise. Big money or not, its one cool looking truck!

E-body Mopar’s have a special place in my heart. This 73 is an awesome example of one, this thing is built to drive. Being a 73 you could have a lot of fun in it and not worry about messing up the value of the more collectible 70-71 cars.

2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 KR
Lot Number 754

I’m curious to see what kind of money this car brings it respect to Mr. Shelby no longer being with us, but with this car being a later Shelby offering as apposed to some of the earlier Shelby’s.

1973 Chevrolet Corvette
Lot Number 776

73vette
This would be an awesome car to have. C3 styling, C5 power. Restomod’s are hot especially in the Vette world. But I’m curious how this being one of the less popular years in a ’73 does going across the block.

1932 Ford Model A Truck
Lot Number 758

I am in love with this truck. Classic look, but with some classic hot rodding touches. A 406 Buick Nailhead with blower, this thing is just too cool.

We talked about this brother to this truck, the Cameo earlier in the week but now we are gonna talk about the rare one of the two siblings, the GMC Suburban Pick Up. 1 of 250 built in 1956. This one is sure to bring a nice price tag.
