Friday at Barrett-Jackson! Some of the nicest rides in the country will be crossing the block today! Check out a few of our favorites!

(All photos credit Barrett-Jackson.com)

Black, low gear, 4-speed, no heater, dog dish hub caps, big engine. Nothing beats a plain Jane car. This 1960 Chevy is a great example of “built to run”. Check it out, Lot 982.

I never understood why more people didn’t do Dodge Viper engine swaps over the years? I remember seeing a Challenger at Carlisle years ago that had one and thought that was just the coolest thing. Apparently the builder of Lot 1016 agree’s with me!

I know what your thinking, Studebaker? But look at Lot 1027, check out the McCulloch supercharger hanging from the top of the engine.

Something about this ‘Cuda just grabs my eye. Its traditional Mopar. Over the top color, billboards, shaker hood, got to love it! Check it out, Lot 1071.

Low miles, four speed, hold on to your hat when this one goes across the block, it’s gonna ring the bell. Lot 1133.

Lot 623- I know what your thinking? 1985 Dodge Truck?? But look a little deeper, this is a sweet ride!

Lot 624- Every time I see one of these cars it will be on my list! I love these!

Lot 701– Usually I’m not a big fan of chopped trucks, but this Mercury, yes I said Mercury is just way too cool not to mention!

Lot 730– You want a Z28? Forget the 69’s, get a real Z, get a 1970! This is a great example! One owner car!

Lot 775.3– A Superbird Convertible? Huh? Pretty cool even for a clone!

Lot 839– Factory 150 Business Coupe, Fuelie too, it will take an awfully impressive car to top this one on my list this year!

Lot 840.1– Check this thing out! Factory crew cab! Rare!Rare! Rare!

Lot T70.1 stands for LT1, the LT1 Corvette is one of the most awesome Vette’s ever created in my opinion. This on is a factory AC car, which was a one year only option making it among the most rare. This one will surly fetch big money!

Lot T79 should let all those guys with 454SS Chevy trucks stuck in their garage if their investment was worth while or not. With less than 5 miles, never dealer prepped, this has to be the nicest most collectible 454SS in the country.

Lot T155.1, the Pontiac Super Duty Trans Am, probably the strongest preforming mid 70’s muscle car of them all. These cars, like all Trans Am’s have really came on the money. My dad had almost this identical car but in a 1974 instead of 1973. Wish he would have kept it! This car is a survivor, be interesting to see how it stacks up against a fully restored car price wise!

Being a Challenger T/A owner myself, you know I couldn’t pass this one up. Lot T142 is a great example of a very nice T/A. Hope it brings some big money!

NASCAR Thumb Print All Over January Collector Car Auctions

The time has come in the collector car world for the annual round of auctions that take place each January starting in Kissimmee, Florida at Mecum and ending in Scottsdale, Arizona under the big tent at Barrett-Jackson. Each year the NASCAR world plays a big part in these auctions, from former race cars, special builds, charity items both donated and purchased, it’s not hard to find the NASCAR thumb print on these auctions. 2017 will be no different. Check out just a few of the NASCAR related item’s going across the auction blocks over the next few weeks!

Lot 1318 at Barrett-Jackson is a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette built, owned and driven by NASCAR Hall Of Famer Rusty Wallace.

Lot 653.1 at Barrett-Jackson features a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Pace Car Edition formerly owned by NASCAR Champion Jeff Gordon. 1 of 1300, it features Gordon’s signature in the trunk. The car only has 305 miles on it.

Enough of that boring street car stuff, lets take a look at a few race car’s for sale!

First up is Lot 235 at Barrett-Jackson. It’s the #1 Skoal Bandit car driven by Rick Mast. This car raced to a 10th place finish in the 1995 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis.

Our next car takes us to the Mecum Auction in Lot L91.1. It’s a former Ricky Craven #41 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0117-275114/1995-chevrolet-monte-carlo-nascar/

There isn’t a ton of info on Lot J182. But I figure it’s worth adding to the list!

https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0117-267442/nascar-replica/

The last of the Mecum cars, lot F122, this is probably my favorite, “The Black Widow” 1957 Chevrolet. This particular car was drive by Jack Smith.

https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0117-269362/1957-chevrolet-150-black-widow/

When you think 50’s NASCAR race car, the Hudson Hornet has to be one of the first to come to mind. This particular car isn’t a real race car, but a tribute to the legendary “Fabulous Hudson Hornet”. Lot 973 at Barrett-Jackson, check it out!

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1953-HUDSON-HORNET–202263

Lot 1040.1 at Barrett-Jackson has “The King” Richard Petty’s hands all over it, in fact, it is still titled in his name. This is the first “Petty Garage” car ever, a fully customized 2009 Dodge Challenger.

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/2009-DODGE-CHALLENGER-SRT–201545

Lot 7004 is a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo “Intimdator” Show Car. Built in honor of Dale Earnhardt, the car was a sort of prototype to future Monte Carlo styling. This car has been in the GM Heritage Collection. This is definitely a one of a kind piece!

The next two cars are examples of what make the NASCAR and Barrett-Jackson connection so special. Both these cars will be auctioned off for charity. 100% of the hammer price will go to Nationwide’s Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The first is Lot 3006, an “all new” 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle designed by Dale Jr.

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1970-CHEVROLET-CHEVELLE-DALE-EARNHARDT-JRS-202397

Last but not least, lot 3006.1 at Barrett-Jackson, a 2014 #88 Dale Earnhardt Jr race car. 100% of the sales from this car will also go to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation.

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/2014-CHEVROLET-88-DALE-EARNHARDT-JR-RACE-CAR-202398

Aside from these car’s, people like Rick Hendrick won’t be hard to spot either buying cars for his personal collection as well as raising his hand for numerous charity auctions! Be sure and check out both auctions coming up this month! Stay tuned to JDSMotorsports.com for all your auction coverage!

Top Ten Gotta Haves: Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale ’16 Friday

Don’t miss a minute of the Barrett-Jackson action, check out the tv schedule by CLICKING HERE

Below are our Top Ten Gotta Haves For Friday!

Lot 934: 1958 Chevrolet Brookwood Wagon

While its a little disappointing that they went with a 454 instead of the original 348, this is still a cool car. I’ve always loved the 58 styling and you hardly ever see any wagon’s.

Lot 952: 1991 GMC Syclone

If you’ve read anything on here by now, you know I love the GMC Syclone’s, this low mile version is sure to bring some good money.

Lot 1008.1: 1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda

As a Challenger T/A owner, you know a AAR is gonna be on my list!

Lot 1030.4: 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1

If you could order a new ’69 Mustang today, I’d imagine you’d order it just like this! Track pack, 428 Cobra Jet, 4-speed, black, shaker hood, etc. etc.

Lot 1054: 1961 Chevrolet Bubble Top

348, 4-speed, bubble top. Those are the words dreams are made of! You couldn’t get a better looking Chevrolet than this in the 1st half of the 60’s!

Lot 1025.1: 1958 Chevrolet Impala

I love the build of this car, just enough custom work and a big bored out 348.

Lot 1060: 1974 Pontiac Super Duty Trans Am

My dad had a car identical to this about fifteen or twenty years ago, I’d hate to say what we sold ours for…….

Lot 1069: 1969 Ford Mustang

Cobra Jet coupe’s are rare birds!!

Lot 1072: 1969 Shelby GT350

Speaking of rare coupe’s, check this one out!

Lot 1133: 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A

Can’t overlook this one!! Hoping it brings big money! Not that I will ever sell mine….

Top 10 Gotta Haves: Mecum Austin 2015

gottahave

For all the info on the Mecum Austin Auction, CLICK HERE

Here are or top ten “Gotta Haves” from this weekend’s Mecum Auction in Austin, Texas.

Lot S28: 1971 Chevrolet Corvette

I love the green, I love the big block and the 4-speed. The power steering and air are just extra kickers. Maybe not the fastest big block Corvette ever made, but this would be a heck of a nice driver!

Lot S38.1: 1970 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda

The chances to own a Hemi ‘Cuda are getting less and less these days, the chances to own an unrestored, low mile Hemi ‘Cuda? Impossible! This car will fetch big money. Aside from everything mentioned, this car is a rare color too, the beautiful Jamaican Blue.

Lot S112.1: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window

Lot S35: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window

As much as I love a split window, its never really been a bucket list car for me, my dad had one years ago so I kinda checked it off the list. But both of these cars grabbed my attention. The first one, because its that classic silver that I so often see a split window pictured in. I love the original hub caps, its just got that classic Vette look. The second one grabbed my attention for just the opposite, that custom color, its different from the norm and beautiful. If you end up with either one of these Vette’s, its gonna be a good weekend in Austin!

Lot S137: 1963 Chevrolet Impala

While I’m not normally a huge fan of the 63 Chevrolet passenger cars, ¬†all the power options with the 409 drew me to this car. Rare options, black exterior, red interior, someone had a good eye when they checked the order boxes on this one!

Lot S94: 1956 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod

Who doesn’t love a resto-mod Vette? This ’56 is as clean as they come. It looks basically stock on the outside, but its anything but stock on the inside!

Lot S118.1 1970 Dodge Challenger

I remember years ago shortly after the Viper came out seeing a Challenger swapped with a Viper V10 at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Beach, I thought it was an awesome idea ever since, you just don’t see it done nearly enough!

Lot S116: 1972 Chevrolet Corvette LT1

The Lt1 Vette’s are THE VETTE to have in my opinion. The ultra rare 72 version with factory air are even better!

Lot F58: 1965 Ford Mustang Restomod

While the title says restomod, Im not really sure how much that applies. What it is though is a tough looking little coupe with enough creature comforts to make it fun, but not take away the muscle car feel or look.

Lot F239: 1969 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

Original patina on a C10? Need I say more? I mean? Really? This thing is out of this world awesome!
